TITAN is a licensed full-service environmental engineering, consulting, management, and software development company. The company, established in 1999, is headquartered in Frisco, Texas and operates other Texas offices in Fort Worth, Austin, Southlake, North Houston, South Houston, San Antonio, and Amarillo. TITAN provides assistance to the private manufacturing sector by securing state and federal environmental permits, filing the required state and federal environmental reports, developing and managing environmental software and compliance programs, constructing waste management units and remedial systems, providing strategic planning and management services, and assessing, remediating, and closing contaminated properties.

What is PaintPro?

To respond to an ever-increasing regulatory demand on air emissions permitting, recordkeeping, and reporting, and specifically as it relates to painting operations, TITAN developed an integrated database program as a tool to facilitate compliance with permits and other applicable air regulations. PaintPro is a custom Windows VB.net desktop application which operates in conjunction with SQL Server. PaintPro contains easy-to-use data input, query, and report generating screens which can be used to simultaneously meet the air emission recordkeeping, calculating, and reporting requirements of the following State of Texas and federal regulations:

  • 30 TAC §101 Emission Inventories
  • 30 TAC §106 Air Permits by Rule
  • 30 TAC §115 VOC Emission Controls
  • 30 TAC §116 Air Permits
  • 40 CFR §63 MACT Standards
  • 40 CFR §372 TRI/Form R

PaintPro is primarily designed for painting operations. However, because of its mass balance methodology, it can also be used to address other source types which lend themselves to the same calculation approach (e.g., parts washers).

1. TITAN can customize the program to address the same type of regulations in other states.

PaintPro Features

  • Chemical Database - PaintPro includes a chemical database populated with hundreds of the most common paint, thinner, and solvent chemicals including their physical properties and regulatory classifications.
  • Material Flexibility - PaintPro can easily handle new paints, thinners, and solvents or changes to their formulations over time, including the capability to re-calculate values over the affected time periods.
  • Operational Flexibility - PaintPro can easily handle new paint operations or changes to existing ones, including the capability to re-calculate values over affected time periods.
  • Easy Input of Usage Rates - PaintPro allows for the easy input of paint and solvent usage rates through convenient drop down menus.
  • Multi-Component Paints - PaintPro easily calculates as-mixed properties for multi-component paints.
  • Comprehensive Calculations - PaintPro calculates the following over all required averaging and rolling periods: paint VOC/VOHAP contents on an as-mixed basis, emission rates for individual compounds and pollutant categories, and usage rates for each paint and solvent, including group totals by type.
  • Comprehensive Reporting - PaintPro includes compliance reports for each of the covered regulations. These reports allow clear comparisons of actual values versus those allowed under the applicable permits or regulations. In addition, the SQL database is accessible by query to run custom reports as needed. Reports can be run over custom date ranges, by individual operation or on a sitewide basis.

Customer Testimonial

Hubert R. Coleman Jr. -- Raytheon Precision Manufacturing
The use of PaintPro has made a significant impact on my day to day operations. I have been able to save six to eight hours per month on data entry and emissions calculations. I have also found more confidence in the accuracy of my numbers. As a matter of fact, initial monthly reports from PaintPro indicate what I expected, that actual emission rates are much lower than what was calculated using our old system. My paint operators, who routinely enter data at their individual terminals, feel it has been a transparent change to PaintPro, with the data entry process being easy and concise. As a result, PaintPro has made considerable improvements in each step of our air compliance process.

Using PaintPro

PaintPro is a desktop application which operates in conjunction with SQL Server. PaintPro can be installed to run with the customer's existing SQL Server Enterprise software or PaintPro can be provided with SQL Server Express. PaintPro can be installed on a single desktop or on multiple desktops, whereby the operating personnel may directly enter material usage rates into the program. Permissions to certain program capabilities may be restricted on an individual desktop basis, per the customer's requirements.

PaintPro requires an initial setup where all material properties and all operational parameters and permits are appropriately defined according to the customer's specific painting practices. In order to ensure accurate calculations and reporting, this initial setup needs to be completed by persons having an advanced understanding of painting operations and environmental regulations. TITAN recommends that the customer retain TITAN to perform the initial setup as a separate consulting service.

TITAN also offers optional consulting services such as populating the program with historical usage data and/or providing recordkeeping, reporting and data management services. Under this option, TITAN can maintain the database on behalf of the customer, with the customer providing the usage data and TITAN providing the compliance reports.

Shown below is a sample screenshot of the database program's navigation panel and paint property input screen.

Computer/Server Requirements

PaintPro requires that the customer’s server meet the minimum requirements to run the database program. TITAN recommends a fully-licensed copy of Microsoft SQL Server.
If the customer cannot provide the recommended software, TITAN will provide a free copy of SQL Server Express as part of the PaintPro offering.
